Good summary of the Jets. They definitely have work in front of them. One sign of improvement often overlooked is that they just missed the playoffs for years in the worst division in hockey in the Southleast and this past season had a similar result in the toughest division. Baby steps for sure but at least its progress.

I'm guessing if Winnipeg fans have already lost interest after only 3 seasons since getting an NHL franchise back... patience is most likely out the window. Kind of hard to believe fans would already be losing interest.

I agree with the write up. Toughest Division in hockey by a landslide. So far the Jets have been moving sideways at best and every year the competition just gets rougher.

I think your defense is solid and only going to get better.

I think your goaltending needs to go, or you need a 1b to go with Pav. I am not sure if I just watch him on his bad days or what but he seems to be more bad than good. Just inconsistent? GM needs to get something moving here, there were plenty of options this year to improve in net.

Your forwards are big and overall pretty decent but Evander Kanes comments about not having enough firepower to play run and gun hockey really hits the nail on the head IMO.

I think it may be time for a completely new coach/GM that will compliment the team you guys have now. With even a slight upgrade on goaltending you have the players to be very stingy, gritty, tough, defensive, shut down type of team.

I like your first round picks but after that there is nothing that I know of to write about. So the future is not exactly bright either.

Basically you have a respectable team on paper right now but one that has a snowball chance in hell of making the playoffs because of how tough the division/conference is. The team philosophy will have to change drastically to a more conservative defensive system to potentially have a chance.

Or the team goes into another bit of a rebuild and tanks hard enough this year to get some of the rich talent in this years draft. Being an Oiler fan I am not sure I can promote this. There is no guarantee a first overall or even top 3-4 will improve your team enough. The jets are good enough that finishing low enough to get one of McDavid or Eichel (sp?) is no guarantee. I would suspect the Jets will be one of the lower teams in the NHL and maybe could get lucky and if they do great... But more likely is the Jets will just get a good player not a game breaker player.

Yes, as I'm sure you must be right, I was merely commenting on the bloggers comments. The Wild sold out every game for the first nine seasons of their NHL existence, and although I'm certain they appreciate Winnipeg fans venturing down to the Twin Cities to see their team play, I'm also quite certain they don't NEED your help to sell out the X.
